TQcast Hacked Twice in the last week. It's time.
Good morning TQfam
It has been a crazy week at TQcast, especially in the behind
the scenes department. Last Thursday at
around 2pm I noticed that TQcast.com was redirecting to bing’s home page.
Thinking I had accidently fat fingered the address, I went about my business. A few hours later, while going through my N4G
submissions, I noticed that one of the N4G members left a comment on my article
pending approval, stating that TQcast.com turned on his firewall notification,
and warned him about possible virus attack.
Ok, at this point I’m thinking; “WTF” how is that possible?
I refreshed TQcast.com, and I kept getting the bing home page. When I started
reading what the Bing results were, I noticed that all results within the Bing search
engine were all virus solutions. At this point, I was confused, pissed, but
mostly felt, as I got caught off guard.
I researched on the net for a solution, and found nothing. I
then went back to check the virus alert name from the user on N4G, and ran a
search for that on google. I found only one other person at the time with the
same issues, and frankly I have a feeling it was posted by the same hacker. I
posted my issues on help forums for the engine of TQcast, and soon many people
started posting about the same thing.
It turns out that hackers unleashed a huge attack on random
sites. The worst thing about all this was the tedious fix to it all. The attack
infected every PHP file within the sites directory, making it extremely
difficult to clean. For those not familiar
with PHP files, I will just say that there are many of those files. And they
all needed to be manually cleaned one by one.
Yeah, it sucked.
Friday Morning I had the site back up, and felt good,
knowing that once again I had defeated this hack attack. This had been the
second time TQcast.com got hacked, but not in this caliber. So, I started
writing once again, I felt like putting out hot articles to send a message to these
no-life, busta ass dudes. All day Friday TQcast was rolling fine, I kept
checking the site, and everything seemed back to normal.
Saturday morning, I woke up, jumped in the shower, and
started getting ready to head out with my family to the Wild Animal Park in San
Diego, and decided to check the site before we left. And here we go again;
TQcast.com is once again taken over by these dudes. Same hack, same issues, nothing original. So, now I’m pissed, I told my wife to give me
a few minutes to fix the site. I had
created a clean back up of the site the previous day after the first attack,
just in case, it was to happen again. And I tell you guys, it came in handy. I completely
brought down TQcast.com and restored it to my back up. TQcast.com was down for
about 2 hours during that time.
I called Juice while I was at Wild Animal Park and told him
what happened again, and asked him to check the site while I was gone. I received
his text later that morning to confirm that TQ was indeed back up and running
fine.
I want to first off apologize for any inconvenience and
second thank you all for holding TQcast down, and helping with TQ’s popularity.
In the last month TQcast has had a huge
spike in page views and visits, and something tells me that this attack was
aimed at TQ for that reason, but I hope not. I always say, it’s funny how things happen for a reason.
And for this reason, I will go harder on everything TQ.
Because of this set back, I have to push the major unveil
mentioned on TQcast Episode 106, back another week. I have no choice, what I
had planned took a back seat in order to get TQcast.com healthy again. But hey,
everything happens for a reason. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

TQcast Hacked Twice in the last week. It's time. :: Comments
Wow, looks like you worked you ass off, heck I'm just happy that the site is still running man, I don't know what I'd do if this site was forever gone. Much Appreciated man
BIG UP!
Wow. I heard that several podcasters went through the same issues too. The Outsiders were talking about it a few weeks back.
Thanks for your dedication Desz. I totally agree I would be completely lost without TQcast around. It's the only place I feel at home...where I can be myself and not worry about being so P.C. all the time.
Let us know of anything we can do to help.

Good job, Desz. That shit is pretty messed up. I can't even imagine how much work that was.
Come on, nothing can hold TQcast, it is getting bigger and better, so when this happens it means that WE are popular lol, Desz as the commander chief, has the whole thing under control.
They cant stop us.
They cant stop us.
Yeah that is messed up big time, Its been a few months now have you had any more attacks Desz?
No, everything has been hacker free lately, I worked on the security right after the attack, and run a daily back-up now.
Backing up is huge!
Backing up is huge!
Unfortunately, this is one of the prices of mad popularity. So many little internet losers jealous because they couldn't do what you guys are doing even after trying. Sorry to hear this cost you so much time, but I am glad the site is back. Keep on doing the kick ass job Desz and Juice.
