Heavy Rain "Four Day" Challenge

As most of you know, Sony has started marketing for Heavy Rain.

Check out http://www.heavyrainps3.com

Basically it's viral marketing for Heavy Rain similar to the Resistance
2 marketing done a few years ago. It will extend over three weeks and
require gamers to piece together clues to find out more about the
storyline while solving one of the game's many mysteries.

You can even discuss things with other fans on the Heavy Rain Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/heavyrainofficialfanpage or you can keep track of other player's theories and ideas using Twitter using #heavyrain4days.

I will be placing pictures, articles, facts, or any clues that I get in this thread. Please feel free to do the same if you choose to participate.

Heavy Rain "Four Day" Challenge :: Comments

Post on Tue Jan 26, 2010 1:53 pm by TheL1T1G4T0R

Day 1 E-mail

Four Days: The Heavy Rain Online Experience… You’re about to embark on a
unique series of three live four-day challenges that will draw you
inexorably into the universe of Heavy Rain – and the first challenge has
begun…

The rain is already falling - look there for answers...
http://www.heavyrainps3.com/rainisfalling

Follow – and you’ll find yourself witnessing a disintegrating mind.
Listen and observe, even if your skin is crawling. Look for clues. Peel
back the layers. Just because you don’t see it straight away, doesn’t
mean it isn’t there.

Keep your eyes open. With careful X-amination, new secrets could be
revealed.

You’ll have seen a sick mind at work. Then, as you see just how far their
influence may have spread, it’ll be time to turn the search inwards. Ask
yourself the question, what would you do for love?

* Four Days: The Heavy Rain Online Experience is a live event which plays
out in real time across three weeks. Between Tuesday and Friday every week
there will be daily tasks for you to complete. Each task will lead you onto
the next part of the journey. At key stages you will be prompted, whilst on
other occasions you will need to deduce the right thing to do. You will
receive an instructional email at the beginning of each of the three weekly
events, and you can always turn to the Facebook Fan Page Community for help
and discussion http://www.facebook.com/heavyrainofficialfanpage

Remember - make your choices, and live with the consequences. Because your
smallest decisions can change everything…

After viewing the website, you get a few clues. All I could find were these so far:

1) The puddle has several key words attached some Twitter names.

2) An anagram which with "PECFREL TOFDS" appears

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:

1) I recorded the Flash application on the Sony website with CamStudio on my desktop. Several others have also discovered the following names and words in the puddle:

  • As you can see they were all posted about 4 hours ago. If you go to each individual one, you'll find interesting things. Like tweedtart has his protected perhaps signifying that he has a "responsibility" to protect information. elisabeth_26sm's page was actually suspended basically rendering the page "DEAD" to the world. abhi_24_88 spends alot of time telling people about freeware which makes me thing of the word "trial."

Not all of these work out so easily. Perhaps they mean nothing...or perhaps it's part of a bigger picture. Just thought the coincidence of all these names and words appearing in a Sony made flash application, all getting posting on Twitter at the same time, and each of them have some link to their specified words was too much to pass up.

    2) The anagram turns out to be "PERFECT FOLDS" which leads you to a Twitter account with some pretty interesting comments on it. I think it actually belongs to the Origami Killer. Here are the few things I've learned below and made a note of:

    a) drive train shot ...costs 400 bucks

    b) distrusts people and dislikes neighbors and kids

    c) says people have to look within for real change

    d) feels better when it rains

    e) city is cleaned after rain and "almost beautiful" like a new piece of paper

Here's a link to some pictures related to Heavy Rain.

    http://tweetphoto.com/9636296

Several people are still dissecting those. I haven't had a chance to study them yet nor do I know how they were found.

The only other piece of information I found ties to Nero Wolf(e). During discussion over clues, one of the people on Facebook named Alf Sternbrunn posted a random comment about Nero Wolf(e), a fictional detective based in New York that had an obsession with tending to his orchids.

We've seen several pictures of orchids related to Heavy Rain so there's somewhat of a tie in; however, where it gets really interesting is that in order to preserve orchids, one would have to boil all of the flower except the petals.

Since it's quite clear that our Twitter poster @perfectfolds seems to think rain washes away filth of the city, perhaps he/she feels water has purification powers. It has been suggested that perhaps the Origami killer will use boiling water to cleanse his victims and maybe leave the head out of the water to make sure it is preserved.

I don't know...but they did tell us in the e-mail to prepare for skin-crawling details. Boiling people not sound like your cup of tea but it sounds like something the Origami Killer might be interested in.
